Mercury Dimes (1916-1945)
Of later issues, the 1916 "Mercury" dime design of Adolph A. Weinman created the most
enthusiasm and excited reaction from numismatists.

For many years numismatists had been sharply critical of America's silver coin designs. Barber's
dime, quarter, and half dollar were disliked as was Morgan's silver dollar. So, the advent of the new
issue, soon called the "Mercury" dime, created considerable excitement.

The Mercury dime, more properly the "winged Liberty head" dime, was produced from 1916 to 1945.

Liberty Seated dimes have attracted numerous collectors by date and mint, as have Barber coins.
Most popular are Mercury dimes and, of course, the current Roosevelt dimes.
