Platinum American Eagle

First issued in 1997, the Platinum American Eagles are the top selling platinum coins in the
                 world.

The obverse of the Platinum Eagle shows the head of the Statue of Liberty. The reverse had
different designs from 1998-2002. Since then, the design has been that of an eagle soaring
                 across the sky.

Each Platinum American Eagle is 99.95% pure platinum. The face value of the coin is $100.

The United States government guarantees the content, weight, and purity of all
                 Platinum American Eagles.

Platinum is a very scarce metal. Besides use in various coins, platinum also has industrial and
high tech uses. One in every five consumer products contains platinum or is produced using
                 platinum.
